Thursday Photo of the Day

Ok, Breaking my rule a little on this photo. I didn't take this shot today. I processed it on my computer this morning before leaving for work though! :)

Anyway, this was shot Thanksgiving week in South Lake Tahoe from the balcony at the Timeshare we stayed at.

Wed Photo of the Day

From iPhone. This is the grain on my desk. Converted to black and white and bumped the contrast up to really bring the grain out! Just experimenting! :D

Tuesday Photo of the Day - Old Rusty Wheel

I love taking photos of old stuff. This is sitting by this old house near where I live. I drive by it every day when I go to and from work. I couldn't resist any longer and had to take a photo of this. I took my DSLR with me and took a few pics. I love black and white for stuff like this, so I did a conversion in photoshop and here's the result.

Here's another photo from the same location.

Wed Photo of the Day

This is what is called a Still Life Shot. It's a Railroad Tie that was made into art. I used my Canon 30D DSLR mounted on a Tripod and a light box with white paper for a background.

Tuesday Photo of the Day - Sunrise

Actually posting 2 photos of the day of the same sunrise. This was shot with my iPhone and I just happened to be at the right place at the right time with the right conditions. The sun looked so cool. The sun was moving and light changing so fast, I only had time to get 2 good shots.

Monday Photo of the Day - Painting with Light!

Did this before Bed last night so didn't get it posted until this morning. I set my camera on a tripod in the hallway. I focused on the tile by the front door, turned off the lights, opened the shutter in Bulb mode for about 5 seconds while I used my laser pointer to draw a smiley face on the floor.  Took a little practice and guess work to do this one!

Wed Photo of the day

This is on of those stress squeeze things I got from Microsoft. Just used some white paper to make a background. Took me all of 2 minutes to do this at my desk this morning. Taken with my iPhone.

Skull Photo with iPhone

This is an iPhone Photo converted to Black and White and some processing brightness and contrast adjustments done on the computer before uploading.

No, it's not real! Hey, it is almost Halloween, so what do you expect! :)

My First Photo Of The Day

A popular thing that photographers do to improve their skills and to expand their thinking on how they take photos is to do a photo of the day. It also helps force them to practice even if just for a few minutes each day. I've decide to do the same and to post my daily photos to this blog.

Some of my photos will be with my iPhone and some will be with my DSLR. The amount of time I spend on each will vary from a quick shot to complex setup and processing. The main goal will be to keep the creative juices flowing and to develop and maintain the habit of doing some photography every day.

I actually took this yesterday (October 23, 2010) with my iphone but didn't get around to setting up this blog until today. This was just a quick shot.

So this is my October 23 posting :)
